Amorim labelled Ndiaye 'amazing' as Man United add Everton winger to summer shortlist
Manchester United have added Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye to their transfer shortlist as they seek a left-winger ahead of a return to the Champions League. Manager Ruben Amorim previously singled out the 26-year-old Senegal international as a player capable of causing United's defence serious problems.
Manchester United have registered interest in Everton forward Iliman Ndiaye as part of their search for a left-winger this summer, with manager Ruben Amorim having previously described the Senegalese attacker as “an amazing player” ahead of the two sides’ meeting at Old Trafford in November.
Ndiaye, 26, has become Everton’s standout performer over two seasons at Goodison Park, contributing six league goals and three assists this campaign. His versatility — he can operate on either wing or as a number ten — makes him an attractive option for United as they prepare to compete in the Champions League next season.
Amorim’s praise came in the build-up to last November’s fixture, when the United head coach identified Ndiaye alongside Jack Grealish as players who could trouble his backline. “Ndiaye is an amazing player,” Amorim said at the time, adding that the presence of such individuals made Everton “a more complete team.” Everton went on to win that game 1-0 despite finishing with ten men following Idrissa Gana Gueye’s red card for striking former United defender Michael Keane.
Ndiaye has three years remaining on his Everton contract, which could make him a more affordable option compared to other targets United are monitoring. The club have also registered interest in RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, though Leipzig have placed an £86 million valuation on the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international — a figure that has attracted Liverpool, who are understood to be leading the race for his signature. Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, valued at around £80 million, is another player on United’s radar, with several Premier League clubs tracking his situation.
Ndiaye is expected to feature for Senegal in a friendly against Saudi Arabia this week, and a strong showing could push his market value higher before any formal negotiations begin.
United are also closing in on their first confirmed signing of the summer, with a deal agreed in principle with Atalanta for Brazil midfielder Ederson. The 26-year-old is set to join for an initial £35 million, filling the void left by Casemiro’s departure, though a recent call-up to Brazil’s World Cup squad has complicated the timeline for completing the transfer.
