Albon reveals Monaco's F1 bubble as Williams driver endures tough 2025 season

Alex Albon has pulled back the curtain on life as an F1 driver in Monaco, revealing just how inescapable the principality’s tight geography makes contact with his rivals — all while navigating a difficult 2025 campaign with Williams.

Filmed on a Tuesday following a race weekend alongside his fiancée, professional golfer Lily Muni He, Albon described the almost unavoidable social overlap that comes with so many drivers sharing the same 3.5-kilometre stretch of coastline.

“You’ll laugh at this,” Albon told the camera. “Yesterday, we were driving to breakfast at a different place. As we’re driving to the place, we’re right behind Carlos [Sainz]. We end up going to the same place. So we’re grabbing breakfast with Carlos. Lando [Norris] came separately, and Gabi Bortoleto also came, and then George [Russell] was there earlier in the morning. So, five drivers — we do not escape each other.”

Albon noted that roughly half the grid shares the same gym, and that at any given moment there are likely five drivers within a minute’s walk of wherever he happens to be. “It gets cosy in here,” he said, adding that a recent conversation with Sainz had drifted into house renovations, furniture shopping, and dogs.

After breakfast, Albon headed out for a padel session with Formula E drivers Nick Cassidy and Mitch Evans. He also spoke about his running routine, which he shares with Muni He, and acknowledged the recent heat in Monaco as useful preparation for upcoming races in Malaysia and Singapore.

“I do bicycle a little bit, not crazy. I’m not good on a bicycle,” he admitted. “That’s for Carlos. Carlos is the bicycle man. I’m running a lot more.”

The relaxed off-track footage offers a contrast to Albon’s on-track struggles this year. Williams arrived at pre-season testing with an overweight car and missed the private test in Barcelona entirely. Albon currently sits 17th in the drivers’ standings with five points, leaving the Thai-British driver with significant ground to make up as the season progresses.
