Adidas reissues Beckham's iconic Predator boots to mark 25 years since the Greece free-kick
Adidas has released a limited reissue of the Predator Precision boots David Beckham wore when his stoppage-time free-kick sent England to the 2002 World Cup against Greece at Old Trafford in October 2001.
Adidas has marked the 25th anniversary of David Beckham’s legendary free-kick against Greece by reissuing the Predator Precision boots he wore that day, releasing two versions of the silhouette that helped define an era of football footwear.
On 6 October 2001, Beckham curled a stoppage-time free-kick past Greek goalkeeper Antonis Nikopolidis at Old Trafford to secure a 2-2 draw that sent England to the 2002 World Cup. The then-England captain wore a white and light grey Predator Precision — a third-generation signature model co-designed with Beckham — and it is that colourway that forms the basis of the new drop.
“The boot draws inspiration from the colourway worn on that day, with clean white and red execution that blends football heritage with elevated craftsmanship,” Adidas said in a statement.
The release comes in two forms. The first is a faithful recreation of the original Precision, complete with the word ‘Beckham’ sewn into the tongue and a No.7 emblem on the heel — a nod to the personal customisations Beckham made to his own boots during his playing career.
The second, called the Predator Precision Remade, leans further into retro territory by incorporating the classic Adidas Trefoil logo into the three stripes. It is only the second time the Trefoil has appeared on a Predator model, having first featured on a Beckham special edition released in 2024 that sold out within 24 hours.
“A defining feature of the design is the inclusion of the Trefoil logo, appearing for only the second time in Predator history,” Adidas confirmed. “The Trefoil has quickly become synonymous with David Beckham Predator models, creating a distinctive bridge between Adidas Originals heritage and one of football’s most iconic boot franchises.”
Despite their vintage aesthetic, the Remade pairs incorporate modern performance technology. Adidas describes the construction as inspired by its latest Predator Elite FT L-Tech concept, featuring a premium leather forefoot for touch and comfort alongside the lightweight support of the current Predator range.
“Few moments in football history capture the spirit of Predator quite like David Beckham’s free-kick against Greece,” said Sam Handy, General Manager of Adidas Football.
