Adesanya warns Tsarukyan that influencer lifestyle could cost him UFC lightweight title shot

Former UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has urged Arman Tsarukyan to cut back on time spent with social media influencers, warning the Armenian contender that his gym habits must match his rising popularity if he wants to finally land a lightweight title shot.

Israel Adesanya has publicly advised Arman Tsarukyan to scale back his appearances with social media influencers, arguing on The Mightycast that the UFC lightweight contender cannot afford the distraction if he is serious about challenging for the title.

Tsarukyan (23-3) has become one of the UFC’s most recognisable faces in part through regular appearances alongside streamers and influencers including Sneako, N3on, and Nina Marie-Daniele. Adesanya acknowledged that the exposure has paid off in terms of public profile — “popularity wise I’d say his stock is boom, shot up” — but the former middleweight champion drew a firm line between building a brand and preparing to compete at the highest level.

“Look, he knows how to train, he knows what to do but, to be at the top-top of the game, you can’t be hanging out with Sneako and N3on on the regular,” Adesanya said. “You gotta be in the gym… You gotta be at least as active as possible.”

The warning arrives at a pivotal moment for Tsarukyan. He has long been considered the most deserving contender in the lightweight division, yet a title shot has continued to elude him. He pulled out of a scheduled challenge against Islam Makhachev last year, angering UFC management, and a win over Dan Hooker in November failed to move the needle on his position in the queue.

The lightweight picture shifted dramatically last weekend when Justin Gaethje dethroned Ilia Topuria in a significant upset to claim the 155-pound title. Tsarukyan would appear the logical frontrunner for the next title shot, but Conor McGregor’s scheduled return against Max Holloway at UFC 329 next month threatens to complicate the division’s direction. Adesanya noted that Gaethje was ringside for the McGregor-Holloway announcement and already has history with Holloway, adding further variables to who gets the next crack at the belt.

For Tsarukyan, the message from Adesanya is straightforward: the social media momentum is real, but it will count for nothing if the title opportunity slips by again.
