AC Milan and Inter's New Generali Stadium to Cost €1.2 Billion
AC Milan and Inter have unveiled the first images of their future shared stadium, named Generali Stadium. Construction will begin in 2028 with an opening planned for 2031-2032, at a total cost estimated at €1.2 billion.
AC Milan and Inter have officially announced the name of their future shared stadium: Generali Stadium. The two Milan clubs released the first images of the venue on Thursday, which will replace San Siro from the 2031-2032 season onwards.
Insurance company Generali has acquired the naming rights to the new stadium until 2052 in exchange for €650 million. This funding represents more than half of the total project cost, estimated at €1.2 billion. Work is scheduled to begin in 2028.
San Siro, built in 1926 and also known as Giuseppe-Meazza, will be largely demolished. The stadium, considered outdated, has nonetheless hosted both clubs for decades and remains one of Europe’s most iconic venues. Its current capacity of 75,000 seats will be slightly reduced in the new project, set at 71,500 seats, but Generali Stadium will be designed to host events beyond football.
Rivals on the pitch, the Rossoneri and Nerazzurri remain partners in this major real estate project. The two clubs jointly presented visuals of the future stadium, displaying a shared ambition: to return to the forefront at European level thanks to a modern facility meeting current standards.
