Abdullaev's 19-second knockout headlines DWCS Week 6 as four fighters earn UFC contracts
Akbar Abdullaev stunned Dana White with a single-punch knockout in just 19 seconds on Dana White's Contender Series Season 10, Week 6, as Mayton Perea, Igor Cavalcanti and Luis Hernandez also earned UFC deals to bring the season's total signings to 28.
Akbar Abdullaev delivered the most talked-about finish of Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 on Tuesday night, dropping Ednilson Santos with a single right hand in just 19 seconds to earn a UFC contract — and some of the highest praise White has ever offered on the show.
White called Abdullaev “the greatest talent that’s ever been on this show” after the former ONE Championship fighter’s jaw-dropping one-punch knockout, in which Santos crumpled to the canvas in near slow motion. It was one of four contracts handed out on the night, bringing the season’s total to 28 UFC signings.
Mayton Perea was equally relentless in the opening bout, stopping Zevan Hunt via TKO at just 45 seconds of round one. Perea clipped Hunt in the first exchange, dropped him twice more, and finished with a barrage of hammer fists in what was a commanding DWCS debut.
Igor Cavalcanti earned his contract with a measured first-round TKO over Oscar Ravello at 1:38. A straight right hand put Ravello down early, and Cavalcanti was disciplined on the ground — smart enough not to overextend — as he kept chipping away until the referee stepped in with Ravello unable to escape.
Luis Hernandez rounded out the night’s signings with a second-round rear-naked choke submission of Hugo Guillon at 1:01. Hernandez was aggressive from the opening bell, mixing takedowns with a sharp body kick and a well-timed overhand, though he nearly paid for his relentlessness early in round two before ultimately sealing the finish.
The one fighter to win without receiving a contract was Tyshawn Williams. White told Williams he would be given another opportunity on The Contender Series later in Season 10 to make his case for a UFC deal.
