All 48 nations competing at World Cup 2026 are in the process of naming their squads for the tournament across the United States, Canada and Mexico, which begins on 11 June. Each country must submit a final squad of between 23 and 26 players — including at least three goalkeepers — to FIFA by the 2 June deadline.

The squad rules carry an important caveat: any player who suffers an injury after the deadline may only be replaced by a player who appeared on a previously submitted 55-man preliminary list, and only up to 24 hours before the nation’s opening match.

Squad announcements have been rolling in throughout May. Thomas Tuchel has confirmed his 26-man England group, while Brazil, Spain, France and Germany have also revealed their selections. With 48 teams involved — more than any previous World Cup — the tournament will feature a record number of players on football’s biggest stage.
