Wallaroos prop Bridie O'Gorman signs for Gloucester Hartpury ahead of 2026/27 PWR season
Gloucester Hartpury have secured the signing of Australia tighthead Bridie O'Gorman, a 43-cap Wallaroos international and seven-time Super Rugby Women's champion, for the upcoming Premiership Women's Rugby season.
Gloucester Hartpury have confirmed the signing of Wallaroos tighthead prop Bridie O’Gorman ahead of the 2026/27 Premiership Women’s Rugby season. The 27-year-old arrives at Kingsholm from the NSW Waratahs with 43 international caps and seven Super Rugby Women’s titles to her name.
O’Gorman’s rise through the game has been rapid by any measure. She only took up rugby at the age of 19 while studying at Sydney University, was selected for the Waratahs a year later, and made her Test debut for Australia against Fiji in 2022. She has since represented the Wallaroos at two Women’s Rugby World Cups.
Gloucester Hartpury head of rugby Dan Murphy highlighted her set-piece credentials as a key factor in the recruitment. “Bridie is a fantastic addition to Gloucester Hartpury and someone we believe will have a really positive impact on our squad,” Murphy said. “She has built an impressive career in a relatively short space of time, having only started playing rugby at 19, and her journey through the Waratahs and into the Wallaroos speaks volumes about her ability and work ethic. From a rugby perspective, Bridie is a set-piece specialist and will add to our forward pack with her international experience.”
O’Gorman cited the appeal of testing herself in a new environment as the driving force behind the move. “Having played rugby in Australia throughout my career, the opportunity to experience a different competition, environment and style of rugby was something that sparked my interest,” she said. “Gloucester Hartpury has a great reputation for competing at the highest level within the PWR, so it felt like a really exciting fit for me.”
She will join the club following the conclusion of Australia’s WXV Global Series campaign. The Wallaroos endured a difficult European tour in September, losing to both England and France before closing out with a 30-10 win over Scotland. They are now set to host Scotland on back-to-back weekends in Sydney and Canberra before the year is out.
