Wales international scrum-half Sian Jones has extended her contract with Gloucester Hartpury, the three-time Premiership Women’s Rugby champions, the club confirmed. Jones, 22, joined from Sale Sharks in 2024 and has made 16 PWR appearances during her time at Kingsholm, contributing to the club’s third English league title.

This season Jones made nine appearances as Gloucester Hartpury fell at the semi-final stage, ending their bid for a fourth consecutive title. Three of those outings came as starts — partly due to England’s Natasha ‘Mo’ Hunt suffering a season-ending injury on Women’s Six Nations duty — including in a 29-26 play-off defeat to eventual runners-up Trailfinders Women at Kingsholm Stadium.

Jones earned her first Wales caps during the 2024 Guinness Women’s Six Nations and featured again in the 2025 edition of the Championship. She has also represented Gwalia Lightning in the Celtic Challenge, making 16 appearances across three seasons and scoring one try.

Gloucester Hartpury head of rugby Dan Murphy praised the young half-back’s growth since her arrival. “She’s a player who has embraced everything we’ve asked of her since arriving at the club and has continued to develop both on and off the field,” Murphy said. “She’s an intelligent scrum-half with great tempo and a real competitiveness that lifts those around her. Earning international recognition with Wales is testament to the work she’s put in, and we believe there’s still plenty more to come from her.”

Jones echoed that optimism, pointing to the club’s environment as central to her decision. “This club has played a huge role in my development, and being surrounded by such an ambitious group pushes me to become a better player every day,” she said. “I’m looking forward to continuing my journey here.”
