Walcott urges Arsenal to sign both Morgan Rogers and Julian Alvarez this summer
Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has called on the club to pursue both Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers and Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez, with the attacking pair expected to cost around £100 million each.
Theo Walcott has urged Arsenal to sign both Morgan Rogers and Julian Alvarez this summer, backing the Premier League champions to attract either player as they look to build on their title triumph.
Rogers has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season at Aston Villa, while Alvarez has contributed another 20-goal campaign at Atletico Madrid. Both players are expected to command fees of approximately £100 million, with Barcelona also reported to be pursuing the Argentine forward.
“We’ll take them both,” Walcott told The Mirror. “What player would not want to come to Arsenal? For me, it’s tricky. Morgan Rogers would be exceptional — Villa have, of course, got Champions League and he’s English, so it would be a lot of money.”
Walcott added that Arsenal’s pulling power makes either signing realistic, though he acknowledged competition for their targets. “I think Arsenal would be able to attract any kind of player. Alvarez, I am a big fan, but I am also a big fan of Gyokeres. It’s one of those, but they are going to add and build and get stronger, and I feel like they can dominate for many years.”
Arsenal co-chair Josh Kroenke has signalled that the club are already moving on transfer planning. “The business never stops,” he said. “Right now there are already other teams who are trying to strengthen and come at us for next season. We need to be aware of that. We’ve already had a few different conversations about different areas where we think we can improve on and off the pitch.”
Kroenke noted that the upcoming World Cup in the United States will shape the timing of deals, with the bulk of activity expected after the tournament concludes. Reports suggest Aston Villa would be willing to sell Rogers before June 11 if their valuation is met.
Arsenal have also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, and Bournemouth teenager Eli Junior Kroupi as they assess their attacking options ahead of what promises to be a significant summer rebuild.
