Raphaël Varane makes his entry into EA FC 27’s Ultimate Team mode with ICON status, reserved for football legends, the publisher announced on Monday. The game is expected on September 25.

Retired since 2024, the centre-back from Lille boasts one of the most impressive trophy cabinets of his generation: World Cup winner with France in 2018 and four-time UEFA Champions League winner with Real Madrid. This record earns him a place alongside other French icons already in the game, including the new France manager Zinedine Zidane, Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira.

Varane is not the only newcomer in this 2027 edition. His former Real Madrid teammate, Portuguese defender Pepe, also makes an appearance, as do Argentine striker Sergio Agüero and former German executive and player Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
