Unbeaten Dasuyev earns UFC contract on DWCS but blames jet lag for failing to finish Ortega

Alvi Dasuyev punched his ticket to the UFC with a unanimous decision victory over Jaden Ortega on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 10 Week 7, moving to a perfect 10-0 as a professional. UFC CEO Dana White awarded contracts to both fighters after the bout, praising Dasuyev’s performance while also recognising Ortega’s effort across three competitive rounds.

The win was notable for more than just the result — it marked only the second time in Dasuyev’s career that he had been taken past the first round, underlining the challenge Ortega posed.

In his post-fight interview with Laura Sanko, Dasuyev was candid about what he felt held him back from a finish, citing travel fatigue as a significant factor.

“If I didn’t have jet lag and stuff, I would knock him out,” Dasuyev said. “I’m sure about that. I hate that guy, to be honest.”

Despite the pointed words, the broader mood after the fight was one of celebration. Dasuyev made clear what the UFC contract means to him personally.

“It’s a dream that’s coming true,” he said. “Really thankful for that. I think it’s a dream for every MMA fighter. I am happy.”

White’s decision to hand Ortega a contract despite being on the losing end reflected the entertaining nature of the fight. Both men left the DWCS stage with their professional futures secured, though Dasuyev will be eager to demonstrate what a fully rested version of himself looks like when he makes his UFC debut.
