Trabzonspor fired manager Fatih Tekke on Wednesday following a poor run of results and elimination in the Europa League playoffs. While Laurent Blanc’s name has circulated among some supporters, the French coach is not believed to be in the plans of the Turkish club’s leadership.

According to the Turkish press, the club has made Sergio Conceiçao its priority. Discussions are said to have already begun with the Portuguese coach, who has been available since his departure from AC Milan. Other profiles are also being considered to succeed Tekke: Vitor Pereira, Thomas Reis and Antonio Conte are among the names mentioned.

Laurent Blanc, meanwhile, has been without a club since September 2025 and his departure from Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia, following a 2-0 defeat to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr. Barring a dramatic change of circumstances, the former France national team manager should not sign his return to Trabzonspor.

The Turkish club had made a splash in the last summer transfer window, attracting Mohamed Salah from Liverpool, quickly followed by former AS Monaco player Fabinho. These high-profile signings demonstrate Trabzonspor’s ambitions and make the appointment of a manager capable of getting the best out of them all the more urgent.
