Corentin Tolisso will remain at Lyon until June 2029. The OL captain extended his contract on Monday for two additional years, moving from an expiry date of 2027 and accepting a salary cut in the process.

“It was obvious for me to continue the adventure with my club of the heart. Wearing this shirt and being captain of this team is a great pride. I love the role I have within the group, both on the pitch and with the younger players,” the midfielder said in a club statement.

Formed at Lyon before joining Bayern Munich in 2017, Tolisso returned to his boyhood club in summer 2022. He is now the captain and one of the squad’s senior figures, a status he was keen to highlight by mentioning his role with the younger players in the group.

The French international also paid tribute to his manager Pablo Fonseca: “I feel I’ve taken a step forward this season thanks to the work done with the coach.” He concluded by stating his ambitions: “I’ve always had the same ambition: to win a trophy with Lyon and do everything to bring the club back to the Ligue des Champions.”

The salary concession made by Tolisso illustrates his commitment to the Lyon project in a financially constrained context for the Rhône-based club.
