Stassin and Davitashvili on the market: ASSE sets price for its two strikers
After rejecting a €30 million offer for Lucas Stassin last summer, AS Saint-Étienne is now willing to discuss the departure of its two star strikers, provided it receives offers that meet its demands.
AS Saint-Étienne has changed its stance on Lucas Stassin and Zuriko Davitashvili: the two strikers now have permission to leave, but the club is conditioning any departure on an offer deemed satisfactory.
Last summer, the Saint-Étienne board had shut the door to all approaches, even refusing a €30 million proposal from Paris FC for Stassin in the final hours of the transfer window. Ivan Gazidis had then felt that keeping the Belgian was a strong signal of the club’s ambitions, a decision that was coolly received by the striker and his entourage.
The discourse has since evolved. According to EVECT information, ASSE is now ready to negotiate for its two main commercial assets. The red line remains clear, however: out of the question to sell Stassin or Davitashvili below the club’s financial expectations. If no convincing proposal materializes, the two players will continue the season in Forez, where Saint-Étienne remains determined to return to Ligue 1.
For now, concrete leads are scarce. Lucas Stassin is reported to be in the sights of Sporting Braga, while Zuriko Davitashvili is attracting interest from several clubs, including a Turkish side. It remains to be seen whether these approaches will turn into firm offers capable of convincing the Greens to part with two central elements of their squad.
