Six-time Super Rugby champion Bryn Hall joins Hurricanes on one-year deal

The Hurricanes have signed six-time Super Rugby Pacific champion Bryn Hall on a one-year deal, bringing the 34-year-old halfback to Wellington as experienced cover for Cameron Roigard ahead of the 2027 season. Hall joins from North Harbour, where he impressed during the 2026 Hilux NPC campaign after returning from stints with Japanese clubs Shizuoka Blue Revs and Kubota Spears.

Hall accumulated all six of his championship medals during an unbroken run at the Crusaders between 2017 and 2022, and arrives at the Hurricanes with 123 Super Rugby appearances to his name. He has also represented the Maori All Blacks on eight occasions and was called into the wider All Blacks squad in 2018 for a Test against Japan, having previously captained the Junior All Blacks in the 2012 World Championship final.

“I’m really excited to get down to Wellington to join the Hurricanes next season,” Hall said. “I loved the way the club played this year with their attacking brand of footy. I can’t wait to be part of that and look forward to contributing in whatever way I can.”

Hurricanes head coach Clark Laidlaw said the club had actually tracked Hall a couple of years ago before he returned to Japan, and was pleased to finally secure his signature after a strong NPC showing.

“With a space available at halfback, we felt there was some room for experience there alongside our younger No 9s,” Laidlaw explained. “His kicking, distribution and all-round game has been super solid in the NPC. We really look forward to bringing him in, not only to play well and compete well, but to share his experiences around the club and with players and coaches.”

The Hurricanes open their 2027 title defence on 13 February against the Blues in Auckland.
