Rugby Australia unveils historic Sydney quadruple-header featuring Wallabies, Wallaroos and Sevens sides

Rugby Australia has announced a historic quadruple-header at Accor Stadium in Sydney on October 17, with all four of Australia’s senior Teams in Gold — the Wallabies, Wallaroos, Australia Men’s Sevens and Australia Women’s Sevens — competing on the same day for the first time.

The Bledisloe Cup Test against the All Blacks serves as the headline fixture, kicking off at 3:45 pm AEST. It will be the second meeting of the series, following the opening Test at Eden Park a week earlier. The All Blacks won the last time the sides met at Accor Stadium by three points.

The day begins at midday AEST with the Wallaroos hosting Scotland — the first time the two nations have met on Australian soil, with the match also forming part of the WXV Global Series. The Australia Men’s Sevens then face Fiji, who finished second in the HSBC SVNS regular season standings last year, before the Women’s Sevens take on the Black Ferns Sevens at 2:25 pm AEST. That fixture reunites the fierce rivals just four months after they met in the Bordeaux Cup Final, with Australia’s women having claimed the HSBC SVNS World Championship title — including a decisive victory in Valladolid.

“This is an historic moment for Australian Rugby with all four of our Teams In Gold competing on the same pitch, on the same day, on an unmissable occasion,” Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh said. “The day will showcase the very best of rugby with our elite male and female players across the XVs and Sevens formats taking on famous rivals from around the world in an unprecedented line-up of international rugby.”

Waugh credited New Zealand Rugby, Fiji Rugby Union and Scottish Rugby for making the event possible.

NSW Minister for Sport Steve Kamper framed the occasion as part of a broader build-up to the 2027 Rugby World Cup, which Australia will host. “Four national teams, one venue, and one huge day of rugby — this is a unique opportunity for fans to see the best of the game in one place,” he said. “With the Rugby World Cup coming to Australia in 2027, events like this are building momentum and giving fans another reason to get excited.”

The Wallaroos will be the first Australian side onto the field at Accor Stadium, marking only their second appearance at the venue.
