Rodri set for £65m Barcelona move as Osimhen, Barcola and Fernandes deals develop
Manchester City's Ballon d'Or winner Rodri is poised to join Barcelona in a £65.4m deal, while Arsenal face a £60m-plus bill for Victor Osimhen and Liverpool's pursuit of Bradley Barcola gained momentum after the winger was left out of PSG's squad.
Rodri is set to leave Manchester City for Barcelona in a deal worth £65.4m, with the Ballon d’Or winner due to undergo a medical before signing a four-year contract at the Nou Camp. City had hoped the Spain international would commit to a new deal at the Etihad, but with his contract entering its final year, it became clear he would not stay.
City are also in talks with Lille over Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi as they look to replenish their midfield following Rodri’s impending departure. Lille are speaking with several clubs about the Ligue 1 prospect, with City among those pursuing a deal.
Liverpool’s hopes of signing Bradley Barcola received a boost after the Paris Saint-Germain winger was left out of the French club’s squad for the Super Cup final against Lens. PSG’s decision to omit Barcola came shortly after they completed the signing of Ferran Torres from Barcelona for £42.7m, with the Spanish winger having been a key figure in his country’s World Cup final victory. PSG also secured Ajax winger Mika Godts in a deal worth up to €55m (£47m).
Arsenal are targeting Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen this summer but face a fee of at least £60m to land the Nigerian forward before the transfer deadline. The Gunners are seeking attacking reinforcements after missing out on Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior following a prolonged transfer saga that ultimately came to nothing.
At Manchester United, Galatasaray have reportedly assembled a lucrative package for captain Bruno Fernandes as the Turkish club looks to match the high-profile summer activity of rivals Fenerbahce and Besiktas. The Independent report that the approach targets the 31-year-old playmaker, but United have made clear Fernandes is not for sale.
United are also in the market for a central midfielder and a left-back under manager Michael Carrick. The club have already brought in Andrey Santos from Chelsea for £50m and activated Youri Tielemans’ £35m release clause at Aston Villa, but at least one further midfield addition is being considered following the departure of Casemiro, whose contract expired and who has since joined Inter Miami on a free transfer.
