Richard Olise released by Chelsea at 21, his older brother Michael shines for France
Right-back Richard Olise, 21, trained at Chelsea since age 9, has not been retained by the Blues at the end of his contract. He is now free to join any club of his choice.
Richard Olise is leaving Chelsea without being retained. The 21-year-old right-back, out of contract with the London club, is now free to sign with the team of his choice.
Born in London, Richard Olise joined Chelsea’s academy at age 9. After progressing through England’s under-18 selection, he made only seven appearances with Chelsea’s reserve team this season, insufficient to convince the club to extend his stay.
His departure echoes that of his older brother Michael, also trained at Chelsea between 2009 and 2016 before being released. The French international winger has since significantly turned his trajectory around, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most prominent players. While Richard searches for a new club, Michael Olise is thriving in the France national team.
