Reyes calls out Cormier's bias after UFC 333 win and crowns Cruz best commentator
Fresh from stopping Azamat Murzakanov at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi, Dominick Reyes publicly challenged Daniel Cormier over perceived bias in his commentary, while naming Dominick Cruz as the best voice in the UFC booth.
Dominick Reyes used his post-fight platform after stopping Azamat Murzakanov at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday to take aim at Daniel Cormier’s commentary, accusing the Hall of Famer of bias and urging him to be more impartial.
The former light heavyweight title challenger and Cormier traded barbs on social media in the aftermath of the event, with Reyes landing several pointed criticisms at the two-division champion turned broadcaster. Speaking to Ariel Helwani, Reyes was careful to frame his critique as constructive rather than personal.
“I like DC too, I think he’s extremely well-spoken, man… He’s got a silver tongue,” Reyes said. “He gets fans in there. I think he’s really good at what he does. He just needs to do better. That’s it. Just don’t be biased, man, and be real. Realize these are our lives. You can’t just say things willy-nilly about us out here.”
Reyes argued that commentary carries real weight for fighters’ careers, making impartiality not just a professional standard but an ethical one. His concern is that a commentator with Cormier’s profile and credibility can shape public perception of a fighter in ways that have lasting consequences.
Despite the criticism directed at Cormier, Reyes was generous in his assessment of the wider UFC commentary team. He named Dominick Cruz as his outright favourite, with Jon Anik and Paul Felder also drawing strong praise. Laura Sanko, he said, is “amazing.”
“I think Dom Cruz is the best. I think Anik is really, really good. I like Paul Felder a lot. Laura Sanko is amazing,” Reyes told Helwani. “They’re all really good, but you could do better.”
The victory over Murzakanov marked a significant moment for Reyes, who has been working to rebuild his standing in the light heavyweight division after a difficult run of results. A convincing finish, followed by a willingness to speak candidly about the sport’s media ecosystem, ensures he remains a prominent voice inside and outside the Octagon.
