Real Madrid issued a formal statement on Saturday denying any contact — direct or indirect — with Michael Olise, his representatives, or his entourage, amid widespread reports that the Spanish club were preparing a £190 million bid for the Bayern Munich winger.

The statement from the Bernabeu club was unambiguous. “Real Madrid CF wishes to state that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned player, his representatives, or anyone in his entourage,” it read, adding that the club “regrets the spread of speculation that does not correspond to reality.”

Real also took the opportunity to underline the strength of their institutional relationship with Bayern, noting that both clubs share a “long history of mutual respect, collaboration and admiration” and a shared conviction that any potential interest in one another’s players must be raised between the clubs directly before any approach is made.

Reports had suggested Real were willing to sweeten a potential deal by offering either Aurélien Tchouaméni or Eduardo Camavinga in part-exchange, but the club’s statement appears to close the door firmly on that line of speculation — at least for now.

Bayern, for their part, have shown no willingness to entertain a sale. CEO Max Eberl was blunt on the subject in April: “We’re not having a second to think about anything,” he said when asked about the prospect of Olise leaving the Allianz Arena. The German club are now reported to be working on a new contract offer for the Frenchman, who is currently tied down until the summer of 2029.

The 24-year-old has given Bayern every reason to protect their investment. After arriving from Crystal Palace, Olise scored 20 goals and registered 23 assists in his debut Bundesliga campaign, then elevated his output further last season with 22 goals and 31 assists — numbers that place him among the most productive wide players in European football.

Olise is currently representing France at the World Cup and made an immediate impact, contributing two assists in Les Bleus’ 3-1 opening win over Senegal.
