AC Milan let two points slip away at Sassuolo on Sunday in Serie A, conceding the equalizer five minutes after Adrien Rabiot opened the scoring (1-1). The Rossoneri remain fifth in the standings, four points behind Inter.

Back from a mixed international window with the France national team — two starts, including a disappointing performance against Turkey — the left-footed midfielder answered the call around the hour mark. In the 63rd minute, Rabiot sent a powerful angled strike into the back of the net to record his second goal of the season in a Milan shirt.

The advantage lasted just five minutes. Dutch defender Cas Odenthal leveled the score on a set piece (68’), denying Milan a victory that the team managed by Ruben Amorim failed to deserve offensively. Christian Pulisic remained quiet, and Gonçalo Ramos missed a big chance to extend the lead. Diego Moreira tried to make a difference down the left flank, without success.

This draw is Milan’s third in six matches, which also includes three victories. Sassuolo, meanwhile, sits in tenth place. Duje Caleta-Car, Nemanja Matic, Darryl Bakola and Armand Laurienté were all starters for the Emilian club.
