The Premier League has released its full fixture list for the 2026/27 season. Michael Carrick's Manchester United and Enzo Maresca's expected Manchester City will now know their opening opponents as the new campaign takes shape.
The Premier League has published its complete fixture schedule for the 2026/27 season, with Manchester United and Manchester City among the 20 clubs discovering their opening opponents for the campaign ahead.
United head into the new season under Michael Carrick, who was handed the permanent manager’s role after guiding the club back into the Champions League following his appointment as interim in January 2026. His first full campaign in charge begins with a known schedule after the fixtures were released at 10am.
Across the city, Enzo Maresca is expected to be confirmed as Manchester City’s new head coach following Pep Guardiola’s departure, though his appointment had not been officially announced at the time of the fixture release. The former Chelsea manager will now know the opponents awaiting him in his opening Premier League games at the Etihad.
Both clubs endured testing starts to the 2025/26 season. United faced Arsenal, City, and Chelsea within their opening five fixtures, managing seven points from a possible 15. City began brightly with a 4-0 win at Wolves before back-to-back defeats against Tottenham and Brighton disrupted their momentum, though a 3-0 derby win over United and a draw with Arsenal followed.
Carrick’s most recent result as United manager was a comfortable victory over Brighton on the final day of the 2025/26 season, a performance that underlined the progress made since his arrival. The fixture list now sets the stage for his first full pre-season and opening run of games as permanent head coach.
The 2026/27 Premier League season will kick off with all 20 clubs now aware of their schedules, with the release coming less than a month after the conclusion of the previous campaign and during an ongoing FIFA World Cup.
