Pereira tips the scales at 251 lbs, outweighs Gane ahead of heavyweight debut at UFC White House
Alex Pereira weighed in at 251 pounds for his heavyweight debut at UFC White House, three pounds heavier than Ciryl Gane (248). A win on Sunday would make Pereira the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in three divisions.
Alex Pereira arrived at Friday’s official weigh-ins for UFC White House tipping the scales at 251 pounds — three pounds heavier than his heavyweight opponent Ciryl Gane (248) and a dramatic step up from the 205- and 185-pound limits he previously competed at.
The weight is more than a curiosity. Should Pereira defeat Gane on Sunday, he would claim an interim heavyweight title and become the first fighter in UFC history to win championship gold across three divisions, adding to his light heavyweight and middleweight titles.
The card’s other title fight also cleared the scales without incident. Lightweight champion Ilia Topuria and interim titleholder Justin Gaethje both weighed in at 155 pounds ahead of their unification bout in the main event.
The evening’s most striking weight gap came in the other heavyweight contest, where veteran Derrick Lewis came in at the 265-pound limit — 34 pounds heavier than the undefeated Josh Hokit, who scaled at 231 pounds.
Former bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley (135.5) and Aiemann Zahabi (135) also made weight for what has been billed as a potential No. 1 contender bout at 135 pounds.
The weigh-in session closed on an unusual note. Diego Lopes, already cleared at the featherweight limit of 146 pounds for his opening bout against Steve Garcia, returned to the scale a second time and came in at 154 pounds after being announced as a potential replacement fighter for the main event.
All 14 fighters on the UFC White House card successfully made weight.
