Jonathan Pearce and Martin Keown are paired together on BBC commentary for Mexico vs South Korea, a Group A meeting between two sides who head into the fixture with perfect records.
Mexico opened the tournament with a victory over South Africa in the competition’s opening game, while South Korea followed suit by defeating Czechia in Guadalajara. Both teams arrive knowing a second consecutive win would put them in a strong position to reach the knockout stage.
Coverage begins at 1:50am UK time, ten minutes before the 2am kick-off. With the late start, the BBC opted against a pre-match studio segment, cutting straight to the commentary team at kick-off.
Pearce is one of the BBC’s most experienced voices, having covered multiple World Cups and European Championships across his long career with the broadcaster. He is joined by Keown, the former Arsenal and England centre-back, who has built a varied punditry portfolio spanning television co-commentary, studio analysis and radio work since retiring from playing.
