Olise scores again as Bayern thrash Stuttgart 5-1 to open Bundesliga
Michael Olise scored and provided an assist in Bayern Munich's dominant 5-1 victory over Stuttgart on Friday night in the opening match of Bundesliga Matchday 1.
Bayern Munich launched their Bundesliga season in style by crushing Stuttgart 5-1 on Friday night, with Michael Olise once again decisive just a week after his performance in the German Super Cup.
The French international is confirming his excellent early-season form. After scoring and providing an assist in the Super Cup victory against Dortmund (2-1), Olise repeated the feat against Stuttgart. Superbly set up in the box by Kimmich, he finished with his left foot to restore Bayern’s advantage in the 55th minute (2-1).
Bayern had experienced a moment of uncertainty early in the second half. Upamecano had opened the scoring in the 21st minute, before Vagnoman equalized in the 52nd (1-1). Three minutes after Olise’s goal, Vagnoman turned the ball into his own net to give Munich the decisive break (3-1, 57th).
What followed was a formality. Pavlovic extended the lead on an assist from Saibari (4-1, 82nd), before Luis Diaz sealed the rout in stoppage time (5-1, 90+2). A convincing victory that immediately places Bayern among the favorites to retain their Bundesliga title.
