Ojomoh recalled as Borthwick names 13 Premiership semi-final losers in England training squad
Bath centre Max Ojomoh returns to Steve Borthwick's England setup after being left out last month, joining 12 teammates from Bath and Leicester Tigers in a 33-man squad that includes eight uncapped players ahead of a France XV fixture in Vannes.
Bath centre Max Ojomoh has been recalled to Steve Borthwick’s England training squad after a surprise omission from last month’s three-day camp, named alongside 12 other players from Premiership semi-final losers Bath and Leicester Tigers in a 33-man group preparing to face a France XV in Vannes on Friday.
The two-cap Ojomoh is one of five Bath players selected, with the others all coming from the pack: loosehead Beno Obano, uncapped tighthead Vilikesa Sela, lock Charlie Ewels, and versatile lock-cum-back-row Ted Hill.
Leicester, beaten 45-31 by Northampton Saints in their semi-final, contribute eight players in total. Forwards Archie van der Flier (uncapped loosehead), tighthead Joe Heyes, hooker Jamie Blamire, and locks Ollie Chessum and George Martin join backs Jack van Poortvliet, Adam Radwan, and Freddie Steward in the squad.
With Northampton lock Alex Coles expected to feature in the Premiership final and captain Maro Itoje likely to be rested in the coming weeks, Chessum and Martin are well placed to reprise their Tigers second-row partnership at international level.
The full 33-man squad contains eight uncapped players, underlining Borthwick’s continued effort to broaden his options ahead of the next Test cycle. Established names such as Jamie George, Ben Earl, Tom Curry, George Ford, and Marcus Smith are also included, providing a blend of experience and emerging talent for the Vannes fixture.
