Norris signs four-year McLaren extension and vows to make it a career-long home

Lando Norris has committed his future to McLaren through the end of the 2030 season, signing a four-year contract extension that ties the 2025 Formula 1 champion to the only team he has ever raced for in the top flight.

The 26-year-old, who currently sits fourth in the drivers’ standings with 159 points following back-to-back victories at the Hungarian and Dutch Grands Prix, said the deal reflects both his belief in McLaren’s competitive trajectory and a genuine sense of belonging at the Woking outfit.

“They are also the only team I’ve ever been with, and the team that I love and I call this place my home,” Norris said. “So, if I do end up just doing my whole career at McLaren, that’s something I’ll be so proud to say and carry with me through the rest of my life.”

Norris was candid about the limits of his long-term planning, stopping well short of mapping out a career arc to rival those of Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton. “Oh, I don’t know if I want to get to 40. It’s a big ask to get to 30, so we’ll see,” he said. “I don’t know what the future holds.”

For now, his ambitions are firmly fixed on the four years ahead. “I’m just very, very pleased to announce I’ll be here for four more years and four more years fighting for wins and championships, hopefully,” he added.

Norris also pointed to his conviction that McLaren can continue to deliver at the front of the grid as a key driver behind the decision. “I still believe that we can win more as a team and win more constructors’ and more drivers’ championships, and that’s why I want to stay here,” he said.

The extension means Norris will be 30 years old when the contract expires, having spent his entire F1 career — from his debut in 2019 through to at least the end of the 2030 season — under the McLaren banner.
