Neuer gifts Bundesliga's fastest goal to Augsburg as Bayern held to draw
Victim of a failed clearance by Manuel Neuer in the 6th second, Bayern Munich conceded the fastest goal in Bundesliga history before salvaging a 2-2 draw against Augsburg in matchday 5.
Bayern Munich conceded the fastest goal in Bundesliga history on Saturday at Augsburg during matchday 5 of the championship, before fighting back to 2-2 in a Bavarian derby that leaves Munich two points behind Dortmund.
Everything happened in the 6th second of play: Manuel Neuer mishandled the kickoff, and Robin Fellhauer did not hesitate to score a goal that immediately entered the annals of German elite football. A poisoned gift that put Bayern in difficulty from the start.
Vincent Kompany’s side then had to battle to limit the damage. Ismael Saibari in the 55th minute, then Nathaniel Brown in the 80th, brought Bayern level with Augsburg, both goals set up by Harry Kane.
This frustrating draw comes the day after a result that could have opened a window: Dortmund had also shared the points the previous day against Werder Bremen (2-2). Bayern failed to capitalize and remain two points behind Borussia, still leaders of the Bundesliga.
