Netflix secures exclusive rights to 2030 World Cup in Spain
The American streaming giant has obtained exclusive broadcasting rights to all 104 matches of the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain, a tournament to be held in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
Netflix has secured exclusive broadcasting rights to the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain. The American platform will broadcast all 104 matches scheduled for this edition of the tournament, which will take place in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
Beyond broadcasting the matches themselves, Netflix also plans to produce pre-match and post-match shows, as well as halftime coverage, to provide comprehensive editorial coverage of the competition.
This acquisition is part of a broader movement by streaming platforms toward major sports rights. Disney+ made a major move this summer by acquiring broadcasting rights to La Liga in Spain. Netflix, previously more associated with series like Stranger Things or Squid Game, is taking a new step by securing an event of World Cup magnitude.
