UFC BJJ bantamweight champion Mikey Musumeci faced Bryce Mitchell in the main event of UFC BJJ 11 at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas on Thursday night, with Mason Fowler’s light heavyweight title defence against Nick Rodriguez rounding out the top of the card.

Musumeci entered the featherweight contest on the back of four consecutive submission victories, establishing himself as one of the most dangerous grapplers in the promotion. Mitchell, meanwhile, brought a formidable combat sports pedigree to the mat — the Arkansas native holds a 19-3 record inside the UFC octagon — but Thursday marked his first appearance in a pure jiu-jitsu format.

Fowler, the reigning UFC BJJ light heavyweight champion, put his title on the line against Nick Rodriguez in the co-main event, a rematch that carried significant weight in the grappling community given Rodriguez’s reputation as one of the sport’s most physically imposing competitors.

The full UFC BJJ 11 card also featured Aurelie Le Vern against Rana Willink, Jay Rodriguez versus Kevin Behring, Lucas Norat taking on Pedro Machado, and Ryan Elgarico meeting Jordan Holy on the main card, with Mason Stritzel, Sebastian Zazueta, Kolby Gonzalez, and Daniel Deeder competing on the preliminary card.
