Martin Brundle and daughter Charlie unveil 860hp Porsche 911 restomod limited to five cars
Former F1 driver Martin Brundle has collaborated with his daughter Charlie and Californian firm Gunther Werks on the Brundle Edition Turbo — an 860hp, air-cooled Porsche 911 restomod of which only five will ever be built.
Martin Brundle has unveiled a deeply personal automotive project: the Brundle Edition Turbo, a limited-run 860hp Porsche 911 restomod built in collaboration with his daughter Charlie and Californian specialist Gunther Werks. Only five examples will be produced.
Charlie Brundle, a professional car designer with experience at McLaren, Aston Martin and Jaguar Land Rover, led the design direction of the project. Martin, drawing on decades of experience behind the wheel at the highest level of motorsport, shaped the car’s dynamic character — including its Sport and Track driving modes.
“To collaborate with Gunther Werks and to have my daughter lead the design means this project is deeply personal,” Brundle said. “We’ve poured our collective experience from the driver’s seat, the paddock and the design studios into this car.”
At the heart of the machine sits a rear-mounted 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 860hp and 610lb-ft of torque. In a nod to driving purists, power reaches the rear wheels exclusively through a six-speed manual gearbox. Brundle is keen to stress that the performance figures don’t come at the cost of everyday usability.
“For me, one of the most unique aspects of a Gunther Werks vehicle is that, despite having extreme race car performance, it is remarkably civilised and usable too,” he said.
The exterior specification includes an adjustable rear wing, front canards, carbon ceramic Brembo brakes and forged magnesium wheels bearing Brundle branding. A two-tone pearl paint finish takes its inspiration from Brundle’s racing helmet, and his name appears on the engine cover.
Inside, the headrests carry an “MB” monogram designed by Charlie, while the dashboard endplates are personally signed by Martin. The dash also features a line long associated with the former driver: “The most important bit of the car is the nut holding the steering wheel.”
Each buyer will receive a Bell HP77 helmet finished in the same colour scheme, signed by Brundle and certified for race use.
The Brundle Edition Turbo will make its public debut at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, with pricing and further performance details expected to be confirmed around that time.
