The BBC has relocated its presenting operation from Salford to Atlanta for England’s World Cup semi-final against Argentina, with kick-off set for 8pm BST.

Mark Chapman leads the studio coverage alongside pundits Wayne Rooney, Micah Richards and Joe Hart, all three of whom have drawn praise for their analysis during the tournament. Guy Mowbray takes on play-by-play commentary duties, with former England striker Alan Shearer alongside him as co-commentator.

The move to Atlanta marks a notable shift for the BBC, which had faced criticism for keeping its World Cup studio at MediaCity in Salford while ITV broadcast from a high-profile setup in Brooklyn. With England reaching the last four, the corporation opted to send its team stateside for the occasion.

The BBC secured presenting rights for the semi-final despite having shown only one of the three quarter-final ties. The broadcaster is anticipating record viewing figures for the match. Sunday’s final in New Jersey will see both broadcasters provide their own separate coverage simultaneously.

The full BBC Sport commentary team for the tournament includes Guy Mowbray, Steve Wilson, Steve Bower, Jonathan Pearce, Robyn Cowen, Steven Wyeth and Liam McLeod, with co-commentators Alan Shearer, Danny Murphy, Stephen Warnock, Efan Ekoku, Sue Smith, Rachel Corsie, James McFadden and Paul Robinson. Kelly Cates, Kelly Somers and Eilidh Barbour round out the BBC presenting roster.

On the ITV side, Mark Pougatch presents alongside Semra Hunter and Daniyal Khan, with Sam Matterface and Jon Champion leading commentary. Ally McCoist serves as ITV’s primary co-commentator, while the punditry panel includes Jobi McAnuff, Bradley Wright-Phillips, Christina Unkel and Gary Lineker, who made a guest appearance as an analyst during ITV’s coverage on 20 June.
