Makhachev defends welterweight title against Garry at UFC 330 in Philadelphia
Islam Makhachev will put his welterweight championship on the line against Ian Garry at UFC 330 on August 15 in Philadelphia. Mackenzie Dern also defends her strawweight title against Gillian Robertson in the co-main event.
Islam Makhachev will make the first defence of his welterweight title against Ian Garry at UFC 330, with Mackenzie Dern defending her strawweight crown against Gillian Robertson in the co-main event. The card takes place on August 15 at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, with both bouts confirmed by the UFC on Wednesday after weeks of speculation.
Garry arrives at the title shot having bounced back sharply from a decision loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov at UFC 310 in December 2024. The Irish contender has since posted back-to-back wins over Carlos Prates and Belal Muhammad, and holds a 10-1 record across his UFC career.
The strawweight title picture shifted when Weili Zhang vacated the belt to pursue flyweight gold, opening the door for Dern to claim the 115-pound championship. The Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist seized her opportunity at UFC 320 last October, outpointing Virna Jandiroba to win the title. She carries a three-fight winning streak into the defence, with notable victories over Amanda Ribas, Lupita Godinez, Angela Hill, Tecia Pennington, and Jandiroba on two separate occasions.
Robertson enters on a five-fight winning streak of her own. The 31-year-old Canadian opened her 2026 account with a unanimous decision over Amanda Lemos at UFC Fight Night 269 on March 14, and her current run also includes wins against Marina Rodriguez, Luana Pinheiro, Michelle Waterson-Gomez, and Polyana Viana.
UFC 330 marks a return to Philadelphia for the promotion, with two championship belts on the line giving the card significant weight at the top of the summer schedule.
