Luis Enrique pays tribute to Genesio ahead of Classique but wishes him well "after the match"
On the eve of the OM-PSG Classique, Luis Enrique paid homage to Bruno Genesio in a press conference, while humorously clarifying that he could not wish him good luck before a match that pits them against each other.
Luis Enrique chose politeness tinged with irony to discuss Bruno Genesio on the eve of the Classique between OM and PSG, this Sunday.
“He is a great coach that everyone knows, who has a very high level,” said the Spanish manager in a press conference. Before correcting himself with a smile: “I cannot wish the Marseille coach very good luck. To Bruno Genesio for the future, yes.”
The two men face off for the sixth time. The record clearly favors the Parisian: four victories and one draw, across all competitions. Genesio has never beaten Luis Enrique, whether with Lille — three defeats and one draw — or with Rennes, where he also suffered a defeat.
The context makes the stakes even heavier for OM. After four consecutive defeats in Ligue 1, Marseille approaches this Classique with the obligation to react. A victory against PSG would constitute not only a first for Genesio against Luis Enrique, but also a strong signal to revive a season that is taking a worrying turn.
