Liverpool ready £86m bid for Yan Diomande to fill Salah's vacancy on the right
Liverpool are preparing a package worth around €100m for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international, as new head coach Andoni Iraola targets a post-Salah overhaul of the attack.
Liverpool are ready to bid approximately £86m for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande as they search for a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, who has left the club this summer. The move would form part of a £120m double deal for wide attackers under new head coach Andoni Iraola, who has already arranged the £34m signing of Victor Munoz from Osasuna.
Diomande, 19, is seen as the more direct replacement for Salah on the right flank, while Munoz is regarded as a versatile forward capable of operating across the attacking line. Liverpool’s opening package is worth around €100m, though RB Leipzig are believed to want at least €130m for the Ivory Coast international — a gap that could complicate negotiations.
Paris Saint-Germain, fresh from back-to-back Champions League titles, are also in pursuit of Diomande, meaning Liverpool face significant competition if they are to land their primary target.
The teenager made an immediate impression on the international stage, starring on his World Cup debut as Ivory Coast defeated Ecuador 1-0. He joined Leipzig last year for €20m from Leganes and quickly justified that outlay, scoring 12 goals and registering eight assists in the Bundesliga last season to help the German club qualify for the Champions League.
At £86m, Diomande would become the third most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history, behind last summer’s arrivals of Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak. The club have a well-established pipeline from Leipzig, having previously signed Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate and Naby Keita from the Bundesliga side.
Iraola is moving quickly to reshape the forward line after a significant reshuffle. Salah’s departure has left a prominent void, Federico Chiesa is expected to follow him out of the door, and Hugo Ekitike is set to miss the start of next season. Securing Diomande and Munoz would go a considerable way towards addressing those losses before the new campaign begins.
