Olympique de Marseille begin their Europa League campaign on Thursday evening away at Besiktas in Istanbul, without two key players: Geoffrey Kondogbia and Tochukwu Nnadi, both still injured, are not part of the squad selected by Bruno Genesio.

The context is far from ideal for the Marseille side, who arrive in Turkey on the back of three consecutive Ligue 1 defeats to Monaco, Paris FC and Rennes. This trip nonetheless represents an opportunity to revive their momentum on another stage.

Genesio will be able to rely on his main attacking assets: Amine Gouiri and Igor Paixao are present, as are key players Timothy Weah and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. Several young players — Keyliane Abdallah, Tadjidine Mmadi, Kelyann Bezahaf, Nouhoum Kamissoko and Alexi Koum — have also made the trip and could get playing time. The OM manager should manage his squad carefully, with the clash against PSG at the Vélodrome scheduled for Sunday.

OM squad against Besiktas

Goalkeepers: De Lange, Van Neck, Vermot. Defenders: Aguerd, Bezahaf, Cornelius, Egan-Riley, Emerson, Garcia, Koum, Meïté, Weah. Midfielders: Abdelli, Gomes, Harit, Hojbjerg, Kamissoko. Forwards: Abdallah, Gouiri, Maupay, Mmadi, Moumbagna, Paixao.
