Kape avenges 2017 Horiguchi loss with third-round stoppage to headline UFC Vegas 119 bonus sweep
Manel Kape earned a $100,000 Performance of the Night bonus after stopping Kyoji Horiguchi in Round 3 at UFC Vegas 119, avenging a submission defeat from 2017. Three other fighters also pocketed $100K bonuses on a standout main card.
Manel Kape settled an eight-year score and banked an extra $100,000 in the process, stopping Kyoji Horiguchi at 2:42 of the third round to headline UFC Vegas 119 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday.
Kape, known as “Starboy”, floored Horiguchi with a counter right before unleashing a barrage on his grounded opponent — capped by a vicious uppercut from behind — to force the stoppage and claim a Performance of the Night bonus. The finish avenged a submission loss Kape suffered to Horiguchi back in 2017 under the Rizin banner.
Debut Submission Among Rarest in UFC History
Promo newcomer Murtazali Magomedov announced himself in emphatic fashion, earning the second Performance of the Night bonus after submitting Melsik Baghdasaryan with a twister just 1:17 into the first round of their featured featherweight bout. It was only the fourth twister submission in UFC history, making Magomedov’s debut one of the most memorable in recent memory.
Oliveira and Fili Deliver Fight of the Night
Vinicius Oliveira and Andre Fili rounded out the bonus haul, each taking home $100,000 for Fight of the Night honours after a compelling featherweight contest. Fili controlled the early exchanges with heavy body kicks, but Oliveira — fighting out of the “LokDog” corner — rallied to put the Team Alpha Male veteran away with a volley of punches and elbows against the cage at 4:56 of the second round.
In total, four fighters walked away from UFC Vegas 119 with an additional $100,000, capping a main card that delivered stoppages, a historic submission, and a back-and-forth brawl.
