Kape and Horiguchi headline 11-bout UFC Fight Night 279 card on June 20
UFC has confirmed 11 bouts for Fight Night 279 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on June 20, headlined by a flyweight rematch between Manel Kape and Kyoji Horiguchi. Kape enters on a seven-win run in his last eight outings, while Horiguchi has won three straight since rejoining the promotion.
UFC Fight Night 279 is nearly fully booked, with 11 bouts confirmed for the June 20 card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, headlined by a flyweight rematch between Manel Kape and Kyoji Horiguchi.
Kape arrives in strong form, having won seven of his last eight promotional appearances. His most recent outing was a first-round knockout of former flyweight title challenger Brandon Royval at UFC on ESPN 73 on December 13, a performance that reinforced his standing as one of the division’s most dangerous finishers.
Horiguchi, a former UFC flyweight title challenger, has rebuilt momentum since returning to the organisation, stringing together three consecutive victories. His latest came via a points decision over Amir Albazi at UFC Fight Night 266 on February 7, a result that set up this high-stakes rematch with Kape.
Below the main event, the card features a range of matchups across multiple weight classes. Farid Basharat meets Ethyn Ewing, and Karol Rosa takes on Luana Santos in a women’s bantamweight contest. Jhonata Diniz faces Jose Luiz, while Beatriz Mesquita and Melissa Mullins clash in a women’s bout. Ion Cutelaba returns against Navajo Stirling at light heavyweight, and Andre Lima meets Kevin Borjas. The undercard rounds out with Gaston Bolanos vs. Michael Aswell, Hyder Amil vs. Christian Rodriguez, Allan Nascimento vs. Mitch Raposo, and Melsik Baghdasaryan vs. Murtazali Magomedov.
