Kane reveals he is close to signing new Bayern Munich contract

Harry Kane has revealed he is on the verge of signing a new contract with Bayern Munich, saying talks are at an advanced stage and an announcement is expected soon.

The England captain joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for £86m on a four-year deal, meaning this is the final season of his current contract. Despite being just 47 goals short of Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League record, the 33-year-old has indicated he has no desire to return to England.

“We’re in good talks. We’re fairly close. There’s still some things that we need to iron out,” Kane said. “I’m happy there. I think it won’t be too long before there’s some sort of announcement.”

Kane has been in remarkable form since moving to the Bundesliga, scoring 152 goals in 154 appearances for the German champions — a rate that underlines why Bayern are eager to keep him. He added that his family are settled in Bavaria, further strengthening the likelihood of a deal being completed.

The striker also explained that the stability of his current environment is a key factor in his thinking, particularly as he enters the later stages of his career. “I feel really comfortable in the team, with the coach, the environment. I want to just be at this level and push this level for as long as possible,” he said.

“Especially, as you’re getting a bit older, if you don’t have a great season somewhere, or you don’t play as well, the drop-off is maybe more than what it would have been when you’re younger. So it’s just about extracting as much as I can, with the boss there, with the players I have in the team. I think they’re getting the best out of me. I’m helping them as well.”

A contract extension would end speculation about Kane’s future and confirm his long-term commitment to Bayern, where he has established himself as one of the most prolific strikers in the club’s history.
