Andoni Iraola will begin his Liverpool tenure with a trip to Newcastle United on 23 August 2026, as the Premier League releases the Reds’ full fixture list for the 2026-27 season. The Sunday afternoon kick-off at St. James’ Park marks the start of a new era at Anfield following what the club regards as a disastrous title defence under Arne Slot.

Slot, who guided Liverpool to the Premier League title in his debut season, was relieved of his duties in the off-season after the club lost 12 of their 38 league games and slipped to fifth place — just one position and three points ahead of Iraola’s Bournemouth. The Spaniard has now crossed Merseyside tasked with restoring Liverpool to the summit of English football.

Liverpool’s first home game of the campaign comes the following weekend, on 29 August, when Nottingham Forest visit Anfield. October then brings two of the season’s most anticipated fixtures: Manchester City arrive on 10 October, followed by Arsenal on 31 October. November is equally demanding, with Manchester United travelling to Anfield on 21 November before the first Merseyside derby of the season at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium seven days later.

The return fixtures against United and Everton are pencilled in for 23 January and 30 January respectively, though the club has noted that all games beyond the opening weekend remain subject to movement for broadcast scheduling.

The fixture list arrives against a backdrop of significant change beyond the dugout. Mohamed Salah, Liverpool’s long-serving attacking talisman, confirmed in the closing weeks of the 2024-25 season that he would leave the club in the summer. Liverpool have already moved to address the gap, signing Victor Munoz and reportedly pursuing a deal for Yan Diomande.
