Hat-trick and assist: Kompany hails Olise after Bayern's 7-0 rout of Union Berlin

Michael Olise delivered a stellar performance on Friday evening, scoring a hat-trick and providing an assist in Bayern Munich’s crushing 7-0 victory over Union Berlin in the Bundesliga.

The 24-year-old French international, who arrived in Bavaria in 2024 from Crystal Palace, is confirming his excellent early-season form. His manager Vincent Kompany made no secret of his enthusiasm, though he tempered his remarks. “Yes, it’s the whole package of course. Not just the footballer, but also the person he is. And that’s important to me. I’m not a manager who comes here to be a fan of his players. For me, what matters is what they are as a person,” said the Belgian coach after the match.

Kompany nevertheless continued his praise by emphasizing Olise’s consistency since arriving in Germany. “Michael Olise has everything to please. Of course, it’s always easier to work with players like him than with others. But he has shown consistency. He’s been capable of it for a long time now. He’s been playing at this level for nearly two and a half years, match after match, and he’s on the right path,” he added.

With a convincing start to the season at club level, Olise will soon rejoin the France national team. Selected by new manager Zinédine Zidane, he will have four Ligue des Nations matches to further establish himself in the blue shirt.
