Guardiola breaks silence on City's 115-charge guilty verdict: 'I am behind my club'

Pep Guardiola has publicly declared his support for Manchester City after the club was found guilty of more than 100 charges in its long-running Premier League disciplinary case. The verdict, released on Tuesday, found that City had inflated sponsorship deals by £830 million over the period in question and that club witnesses had not been honest when giving evidence.

Guardiola, who ended his decade-long tenure as City manager last summer, took to X to address supporters directly. “I want every single @ManCity fan to know I am here; more than ever,” he wrote. “I am, always have been, always will, be behind my club, my owner, my chairman, Ferran, the players, staff, Enzo and you, our unique supporters. Let me be clear: we will get through this together. I love you all.”

City responded furiously to the verdict, reaffirming their position that they have not acted improperly and confirming they will appeal the decision. Chief executive Ferran Soriano also sent a message to all club staff, telling them he believes the club will be cleared on appeal.

The charges against City relate to an extended period of alleged financial rule-breaking and represent one of the most significant disciplinary cases in Premier League history. The appeal process is expected to be lengthy, meaning the final resolution of the case remains some way off.

Guardiola’s intervention is notable given that he is no longer employed by the club. His message singles out Soriano, new head coach Enzo Maresca, the playing staff, and City’s supporters as he sought to project unity around a club facing an uncertain period.
