France forced into three changes for Canada WXV clash after red-card suspensions
Coach François Ratier has reshuffled his France XV for Sunday's WXV Global Series match against Canada in La Rochelle, with bans for Ambre Mwayembe and Cloé Correa following their red cards against Australia forcing the changes.
France head coach François Ratier has named a reshuffled starting XV for the WXV Global Series fixture against Canada in La Rochelle, with disciplinary fallout from last week’s win over Australia compelling three changes to his side.
Mwayembe and Correa were both dismissed during France’s dramatic 29-26 victory over Australia in Aix-en-Provence — Mwayembe receiving a 20-minute red card and Correa a straight red — leaving Les Bleues reduced to 11 players at one stage in the first half. Both players have since received match bans, ruling them out of the Canada fixture.
Yllana Brosseau returns to the front row at loosehead prop, while Charlotte Escudero shifts from the back row to the second row to partner lock Julia Grosz. The reshuffle opens a place in the back row for Mouna Toure, who lines up alongside Axelle Berthoumieu and Léa Champon. Elisa Riffonneau and Assia Khalfaoui complete the front row.
Among the backs, debutant Marie Ibañez earns her first international start on the wing, the one change in that unit. Emilie Boulard starts at full-back to complete the back three, with Téani Feleu and Gabrielle Vernier named in midfield. Captain Pauline Bourdon Sansus and Carla Arbez continue their half-back partnership, which has remained consistent throughout the WXV Global Series campaign.
Ratier’s replacements are Mathilde Lazarko, Amalia Bazola Allieres, Annaëlle Deshaye, Lou Roboam, Elsa Peyras, Alexandra Chambon, Lina Queyroi and Elodie Fernandez.
