Ewing targets third straight undefeated victim as Basharat fight confirmed for June 20
Ethyn Ewing, who has made a career of upsetting unbeaten prospects, will face 15-0 Farid Basharat at UFC Fight Night on June 20 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The bout was announced by the promotion on Tuesday.
Ethyn Ewing will attempt to derail another unbeaten prospect when he faces Farid Basharat at UFC Fight Night on June 20 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, the promotion confirmed on Tuesday.
Ewing (10-2) has carved out a distinctive niche in the UFC’s bantamweight division by targeting and defeating fighters with unblemished records. After losing his first two professional bouts, he has gone unbeaten across his last 10 outings and built a reputation as one of the division’s most dangerous upset specialists.
His most notable scalp came on his UFC debut, when he stepped in on 48 hours’ notice as a +550 underdog against then-undefeated prospect Malcolm Wellmaker. Rather than wilt under the pressure, Ewing dominated to earn a unanimous decision victory. He followed that performance in April by handing Rafael Estevam his first professional loss in another upset result.
Basharat (15-0) arrives as the most credentialed unbeaten opponent Ewing has faced to date. The fighter known as “Ferocious” has accumulated six wins inside the UFC already, making his unblemished record considerably more battle-tested than those of Ewing’s previous victims.
For Ewing, a win over Basharat would represent a significant step up in competition and further cement his standing as a legitimate contender. For Basharat, the fight is an opportunity to prove his record reflects genuine quality rather than careful matchmaking — though Ewing’s recent history suggests that task will be harder than it looks on paper.
