Ethan Mbappé set for Lille contract extension, one sticking point remains
LOSC and Ethan Mbappé share the desire to continue together, according to Le Petit Lillois. Negotiations are advanced, but the length of the new contract remains to be settled.
Ethan Mbappé should extend his time at LOSC. According to Le Petit Lillois, the northern club and the 20-year-old midfielder display a “common desire” to continue together, and discussions, which have been underway for several weeks, have reached an advanced stage.
Arrived from Paris in summer 2024, the younger member of the Mbappé family is tied to Lille until June 2027. With one year of contract remaining, the club did not want to find itself in the situation of losing him on a free transfer at the end of next season, which made this negotiation window decisive.
Only one point of friction remains: the length of the future deal. LOSC would lean towards a one-year extension, taking the contract through to June 2028, while Ethan Mbappé and his entourage are calling for a longer commitment. Discussions continue, but an agreement now seems within reach.
Since his arrival in the North, the player has been hampered by several injury issues. When he has been able to string matches together, he has nonetheless impressed: this season, he has totalled 3 goals and one assist in 22 appearances across all competitions.
