England face Norway in World Cup quarter-final after thrilling 3-2 win over Mexico
England are through to the 2026 World Cup quarter-finals after a dramatic 3-2 victory over hosts Mexico, with Jude Bellingham scoring twice and Harry Kane converting a penalty despite Jarell Quansah's red card.
England survived a second-half red card to beat Mexico 3-2 in the 2026 World Cup round of 16, setting up a quarter-final against Norway at Miami Stadium in Florida on Saturday, 11 July.
Jude Bellingham was the standout performer, scoring a quickfire double, while Harry Kane added a crucial penalty to put the Three Lions through in regular time. Defender Jarell Quansah was sent off in the second half, but England held on against the tournament’s host nation to advance to the last eight.
Standing between England and a semi-final berth is an Erling Haaland-inspired Norway side that eliminated five-time champions Brazil 2-1, with the Manchester City striker netting twice. The quarter-final kicks off at 10pm UK time.
Should England progress past Norway, they would face a semi-final on Wednesday, 15 July, at Atlanta Stadium, with an 8pm kick-off. Potential opponents at that stage include Argentina, Egypt, Switzerland, and Colombia.
The final is scheduled for Sunday, 19 July, at New York New Jersey Stadium, also with an 8pm kick-off. If England reach the showpiece, they could face France, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, the USA, or Belgium.
