Raymond Domenech will no longer be a regular commentator on L’Équipe du Soir from next season. The channel has decided to restrict its list of regular contributors, and the former France manager — present on the channel for ten years — will no longer be part of it.

However, Domenech is not leaving the airwaves. On social media, he announced what comes next himself: “After all these years spent debating, commenting and analyzing football news, I invite you to a new adventure in ‘La Grande Soirée’ on L’Équipe channel for all European cup matches.” He was already present in this format during Ligue 1 and Ligue des Champions evenings, and will now concentrate the bulk of his appearances there.

At 74, the former coach has established himself as a divisive but essential figure on the panel over the past decade, combining tactical analysis with strong positions. His time on television has not been without friction: he notably refused to appear alongside journalist Dominique Sévérac, due to articles published by the latter in Le Parisien. He concluded his announcement by thanking his followers for the “kind testimonials” received “on a daily basis”.
