Chalobah's agents fly to Italy to hold talks with Inter Milan and Como over summer exit
Trevoh Chalobah's representatives have travelled to Italy to discuss a potential Serie A move, with Inter Milan and Como both pursuing the Chelsea defender. Inter are yet to table a formal offer, while Como's opening bid of around £23m has already been rejected.
Trevoh Chalobah’s agents have flown to Italy to open transfer talks with Inter Milan and Como, as the Chelsea centre-back edges closer to a first permanent departure from Stamford Bridge. The 26-year-old, currently with England’s World Cup squad, is understood to be keen on a move to Serie A ahead of Xabi Alonso’s arrival as Chelsea head coach.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Chalobah’s representatives will hold discussions with both clubs. Como, managed by Cesc Fàbregas, have already had an opening offer of around £23m rejected by Chelsea, while Inter Milan are in ongoing talks over personal terms but have not yet submitted a formal bid. Chelsea are said to value Chalobah at approximately £30m.
Inter’s interest is long-standing. Romano notes that Nerazzurri sporting director Piero Ausilio has tracked Chalobah for some time, and the defender is believed to be the club’s primary defensive target as they look to strengthen ahead of their Serie A title defence. Inter had previously explored a deal for Udinese’s Oumar Solet, but those talks did not progress.
Chalobah has spent his entire career at Chelsea since joining the academy at the age of eight, signing his first professional contract in March 2018. He has never made a permanent transfer away from the club, though three loan spells — at Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town, and Ligue 1 side Lorient — gave him experience across different levels of the game before he returned to west London in the summer of 2021.
His breakthrough under Thomas Tuchel came quickly. Chalobah made his Chelsea debut in the UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal and went on to make 34 Premier League appearances last season. Tuchel also handed him his first England cap in May 2024, and selected him as a late replacement for injured Newcastle full-back Tino Livramento in the current World Cup squad. Chalobah has yet to feature in the tournament in the United States.
With Chelsea’s defensive options set to be reshaped under Alonso, a permanent exit this summer appears increasingly likely — and Italy is where both clubs and player seem to want that move to land.
