Camavinga, Güler and Bernardo Silva suspended: Real Madrid without seven players against Inter
Eduardo Camavinga will serve a suspension against Inter Milan on Tuesday evening in the Champions League, as will Arda Güler and new signing Bernardo Silva. Four injured players add to Real Madrid's woes.
Real Madrid begins its Champions League campaign with seven notable absences: three suspended and four injured for the visit of Inter Milan to the Bernabéu on Tuesday evening.
Eduardo Camavinga will be the most notable of the absentees. The French international midfielder is serving a suspension carried over from last season, following his red card in the quarter-final second leg against Bayern Munich. Coming off the bench, he received two consecutive yellow cards — a dismissal considered decisive in the Madrid club’s elimination.
Arda Güler is also hit by a suspension inherited from that same quarter-final in Bavaria. The Turkish midfielder received his second caution after the final whistle for protesting to the referee.
Third suspended player: Bernardo Silva, signed this summer. The Portuguese midfielder was sent off last season in the round-of-16 second leg of this same competition… against Real Madrid, after stopping the ball with his hand to prevent a Merengue goal.
To these three absences are added four players unavailable through injury: Rodrigo, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy and Raul Asencio. Carlo Ancelotti will therefore have to make do with a seriously depleted squad to launch the European campaign of the Casa Blanca.
